IRS Releases 2022 Inflation-Adjusted Amounts for HSAs and HRAs

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) released inflation-adjusted amounts applicable to Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and excepted benefits Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) for calendar year 2022.

HSAs

  • Annual limit on deductions for an individual with self-only coverage under a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) is $3,650; the limited for family coverage is $7.300.

HDHP

  • Defined as a health plan with an annual deductible no less than $1,400 for self-only coverage, or $2,800 for family coverage.
  • Annual out-of-pocket expenses may not exceed $7,050 for self-only or $14, 100 for family coverage

HRA

  • For plan years beginning in 2022, maximum amount for an excepted benefit HRA is $1,800.
