H&W: Non-Grandfathered Health Plan Deductible Limits Repealed
Deductible Limits Repealed: Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), non-grandfathered, fully insured health plans in the small group market had to restrict deductibles to no more than $2,000 (self-only coverage) and $4,000 (family coverage). These limits were effective for plan years beginning in 2014.
The recently passed Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014, eliminates these deductible limits effective April 1, 2014.
Please note that this does not simply delay the application of the deductible limits, but completely eliminates them as though they were never part of the original law.
